My Journey to Web/SMS Posting!

Today, I am going to share with you my journey to Web/SMS posting, although little, but still I wish to share it with you.

I remember, it was the month of May of 2008 and I used to get SMS alerts from different news groups on my cell phone. I was very much impressed by these services. I used all my sources to know about this service, but, all in vain.

One day I was browsing some websites, suddenly I was a service rendered by Google. I didn’t waste any time at all and created a group namely “Islamicalerts” under religious category. I posted Quranic verses, Hadiths and other Islamic information through this group. It took me couple of weeks to reach a mark of “10” member. By seeing this weak progress, I lost my interest in this group. I was very sad on this. As a result I stopped posting to this group.

After few days I thought that Al-mighty Allah will not be happy with me on this. Suddenly, an idea struck my mind. I made some posters having procedure of joining to this free Islamic service on them. I started pasting them on Mosque’s doors. This trick worked fine and slowly and steadily, group members started increasing. This gave me a boost and I continued my job only to propagate Islam using this media.

In a couple of weeks, I started another SMS group namely “Kashmir Headlines” in order to keep people  updated about the latest happenings of IHK. It gave me immense pleasure to spread the news, views, reviews, updates, etc. to the masses.

But, all of the sudden when unrest broke in the valley, all SMS services were blocked which are still to restore. I was totally astonished by this step taken by Govt. of India. In a big democratic country like India, where media/press is considered fourth pillar/estate of Govt., It was totally surprising for the people of valley. Although it was not for the first time that SMS service was banned in Kashmir but Kashmir had also faced it before in 2008 agitation.

Not only SMS service but local news channels were ordered to limit their news telecast only for ten minutes. Newspaper distribution also suffered. Media person were harassed and stopped from performing their duties. 

On seeing this, I switched to Internet. Earlier I was using Facebook for personal profile. But now I used it for public. I created a fan-page by the title Kashmir_Headlines. I reached 600 mark in a couple of weeks. Now, it has become an integral part of my life. I am utilizing all my knowledge and experience in order to make it a famous news page world wide. I spend nearly 5-6 hours a day on the page in order to post news, photos, videos and much more on it.

I have also created a youtube channel having link address www.youtube.com/kashmirheadlines where I upload videos of political and social issues.

Concluding, I know that a lot of hard work is yet to be done, but, I truly feel that I will succeed and will achieve my goal.
